Parking and private land
- Do not park at the crossing. Cars get towed or vandalized.
- Stay in the riverbed. The land around it is private, and a landowner or deputy could confront us.
What the walk is like
- Boulders and slick rock.
- Dry for about 4.5 miles, then pools and a few short swims.
- You should be fine with a 10-mile day on rough ground and swimming 50 yards with a pack.
- About 50 to 70°F. The water may be cold.
What to bring
- At least 4 liters of water
- Lunch and snacks
- Closed-toe shoes that can get wet
- Dry layer for after the swim
- Dry bag for phone and keys
Safety
- Rain in the forecast or a rising river means we postpone. Glenn decides Friday night.
- If it rains on the day, get to high ground right away.
